The ASSI Linker Model was developed to address the issues highlighted in the 2014 and 2024 Australian South Sea Islander Health and Community Report based on the surveys conducted by the Link Workers and the former ASSI CAMS workers

Funded by the Primary Health Network, Queensland United Australian South Sea Islander Council and Community Information Support Services established a Community Reference Group
The ASSI Linker Model provides a practical ways to
  • meet the commitments made by the Queensland Government in the 2000 Australian South Sea Islander Recognition statement and the
  • meet commitments in the statement to the Australian Parliament, the Australian Government in 1994 to recognised Australian South Sea Islanders as a unique and distinct ethnic group and accepted that ASSI people suffer from severe social and economic disadvantage as a result of racial discrimination.
  • meet commitments in 2015 Revisiting Recognition Report
